Great article stripping it back to basics. I’ve found that social bookmarking and submitting articles to a blog carnival is a good way of promoting your site(s) further.

Thanks for dropping by at my blog today, just thought I’d return the favour!

One other form of promotion you haven’t mentioned is guest blogging, i.e. writing a post for other people’s blogs.

Sure, it’s a bit more work but it will get you a ton more visitors than leaving a blog comment and will also give you added authority and credibility, as the blog owner is effectively endorsing you by publishing your article.

This is something I am going to pursue a lot more of.
